What Pushya nakshatra is
Pushya is the 8th of the 27 nakshatras, the lunar mansions the Moon passes through as it circles the zodiac. Its name means “The nourisher, the nurturer”, its symbol is the cow's udder, lotus, and its presiding deity is Brihaspati. In one line, Pushya is about the most auspicious star: nourishment and support.
Every nakshatra is exactly 13 degrees 20 minutes wide, one twenty-seventh of the 360 degree circle. Pushya occupies 3°20' Cancer to 16°40' Cancer, which places it in Karka (Cancer).
