How we compute your chart
Real astronomy, not tables
Every chart is computed with Drik Siddhanta, the modern observational method, using the Swiss Ephemeris. Planetary positions match the actual sky rather than simplified almanac tables.
Lahiri ayanamsha
We use the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsha, the standard sidereal zodiac across India and Nepal, so your rashis, nakshatras and dashas align with mainstream Vedic practice.
Grounded AI Jyotish
Our AI Jyotish reads your own computed chart, its planetary periods and current transits, then answers in plain language and cites the classical source (for example Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra) behind each statement, not generic sun-sign text.
Hindu calendar built in
Every day carries its tithi and lunar month, the festivals of the year, and the full panchanga with sunrise, sunset, nakshatra, yoga and karana for your city. Bikram Sambat and Gregorian dates convert both ways.

How we write, and what we will not do
Every guide on this site is grounded in classical Jyotish, mainly the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and the standard works on grahas, bhavas, nakshatras and dashas, and each reading is checked against the chart mathematics our engine computes. We write in plain language, and we try to be honest rather than dramatic. A placement is rarely simply good or bad, so we read it house by house and say clearly when the tradition itself is divided.
We do not trade in fear. We will not tell you that a dosha has ruined your life, and we do not prescribe gemstones, mantras or rituals as fixes. Remedies belong with a qualified astrologer who can study your whole chart in context. What we give you here is accurate information and the tools to read your own kundali, so that when you do sit with an astrologer, you can ask sharper questions and understand the answers.
Who writes and checks the articles
The blog articles are written by Lelin Adhikari, a self-taught student of Vedic astrology with three years of independent study, and every one is reviewed before it goes live by Damodar Pokhrel, a self-taught student with 15 years of independent study. Neither of us presents as a certified astrologer; what we offer is careful study, shown in full so you can check it.
- Sources. The rules come from the classical texts, mainly the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Brihat Jataka, Saravali and Phaladeepika. Where traditions differ, the article says so.
- Calculations. Every date, degree and example chart comes from the site’s own engine (Swiss Ephemeris, Lahiri ayanamsha), and the arithmetic is shown so a reader can repeat it. The worked examples on the yoga pages are tested by a script that checks each one against its yoga’s rule.
- Review. Damodar reviews each article before it is published, checking its rules, calculations and examples against the sources.
- Lessons and reference pages. The Astrology 101 lessons and the rashi, nakshatra, graha, house, yoga and conjunction pages are prepared by the Vedic Kundali team from classical rule tables and carry the Vedic Kundali name rather than a personal byline.
Example charts and computed charts
Two kinds of chart appear on this site, and each is labelled for what it is.
- Computed from the sky. Your own kundali, the free kundali tool, Kundali Matching, today’s panchanga, the transit pages and the chart of the present moment on the home page are calculated from real planetary positions (Swiss Ephemeris, Lahiri ayanamsha) for an actual date, time and place.
- Built to teach. The example charts on the yoga, rashi and nakshatra pages, the “near miss” charts and the Kaal Purush charts on the reference pages are constructed by hand to show one rule clearly: a lagna and the houses of the grahas the rule needs, nothing more. They are not the chart of any real person or moment, and the other grahas are left out on purpose.
How the classical sources are cited
Each article ends with the texts it rests on. Chapters are named by subject, because their numbers differ between editions and translations of these texts. Where an edition and page are given, they were checked against a copy in hand; nothing is cited from memory or from a summary.
Written for real people, in three languages
Vedic Kundali is built and maintained by a small team in Nepal, for readers across South Asia and the diaspora.
